Sound Healing

“If we accept that sound is vibration and we know that vibration touches every part of our physical being, then we understand that sound is heard not only through our ears but through every cell in our bodies. One reason sound heals on a physical level is because it so deeply touches and transforms us on the emotional and spiritual planes.”

~ Dr. Mitchell Gaynor, Director of Medical Oncology and Integrative Medicine

I was initially introduced to the world of sound through kirtan (chanting) and the voice and mantras as a vehicle of sound and expression. I have always loved singing and have played classical piano since childhood which made me curious about exploring the harmonium.

After experimenting a little with kirtan and my harmonium, I moved onto Tibetan singing bowls then onto Gongs and this is where the magic began to happen. I qualified in Gong and Sound Healing in 2017 and started to incorporate sound baths into my classes, workshops and yoga retreat days and received such wonderful feedback about them.

The term sound bath is used to describe this immersive vibrational experience of pure sound, it feels as though you are being “bathed” in sound waves and vibration and as our bodies are made of up to 70% water they are ideal conductors for this vibrational energy. Imagine the rippling effect of the sound vibrations as soothing, meditative sound waves reverberating throughout your entire body. You move from a place of thinking and doing to simply feeling and being. The best way to understand it is to experience it.

I have quite a collection of instruments now which includes my Paiste Planetary Gong and my Chinese Feng Gong, various Tibetan and Crystal singing bowls, Koshi chimes, Remo and Ocean Drums, rainsticks, etc. A sound session can be for deep relaxation and rest, for the sound experience or for healing. The Gong's vibrations help to align the chakras and harmonise the body and the theta waves help to reduce blood pressure, relieve stress and stimulate the immune system. A sound bath will last approximately one hour and will also include opening and closing relaxation.

I offer Sound Healing, with all my instruments, as part of my own Yoga Retreat Days but am also open to Private Group or Event Hire. Please feel free to contact me to discuss your requirements. Cost starts from £100 depending on location, request and numbers.

What a great day, Em. Thank you. I feel great today, so everything worked. That was the best gong and sound bath I have experienced (although it only seemed to last ten minutes!) , and followed by a nice walk round the grounds with lovely yogis. A blissful day. Namaste x
